Short Report from Race

Michele Bartoli wins in a fantastic way for the second time Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
The Italian rider forced his victory by an attack at about 15 kms from the arrival.
At this moment the Russian Jewgeni Berzin was in front of the race since over
50 kms with more than one minute of time delay on the following seven cracks:
Jalabert, Vandenbroucke, Casagrande, Boogerd, Massi, Dufaux and of course Bartoli.
Bartoli caught Berzin in the climb of Tilman. "Jaja" tried in vain to join Bartoli
in a second phase. Neither "VDB" nor the other chasers were able to decrease the
time delay. Bartoli was in fact the strongest rider of the day and nobody could
prevent him from winning consecutively one of the most important Classic.
