Men

• The lead group containing Scanlon, Power, Doherty and Evans
• Scanlon's next attack on the Balscadden Hill was enough to open daylight between himself and the increasingly-frustrated Navigators rider Ciaran Power
• Scanlon put his head down and sped to an unassailable lead, racing into the village of Stamullen over a minute clear of Power
• Power had little trouble in outsprinting Evans to take second
• David McCann (Volksbank Ideal) who started the day aiming to land his third consecutive national road race title, but who saw his chances wither away on the opening lap when he punctured twice

Women

• French-based Geraldine Gill (VC Quintin) made history today at the road race championships in Stamullen when she took her fourth consecutive national title with a storming solo display

Stage 1a - June 12: Uppsala, 12 km time trial

• Belgian Bert Roesems (Palmans-Collstrop) - was the first rider to wear the yellow jersey in the Postgirot Open, winning the 12 kilometre time trial in Uppsala

Stage 1b - June 12: Uppsala-Eskilstuna, 138 km

• Later in the afternoon, the 138 kilometre stage to Eskilstuna started under cloudy skies - with rain lashing the peloton before too long

Stage 2 - June 13: Eskilstuna-Motala, 175 km

• Despite horrible weather conditions - Rabobank's Steven de Jongh surprised us with a second stage win in two days. The Dutch sprinter beat home British pair of Rob Hayles (Cofidis) and Jeremy Hunt (BigMat)

Stage 3 - June 14: Motala-Skövde, 180 km

• On a tough stage finish, Bert Roesems (Palmans-Collstrop) - lost his leader's jersey to René Haselbacher (Gerolsteiner), who managed to get into a five-man break on steep climb of Billingen
• Piil looked like the certain winner when he sprinted towards the line on the cobbles - But Piil threw his hands in the air and his bike turned slightly to the right, hitting Haselbacher and crashed. Haselbacher stayed upright, and took both the stage victory as well as the leader's jersey

Stage 4 - June 15: Skövde-Huskvarna, 190 km

• 23 year old Colombian rider Mauricio Ardila (Marlux) - won the biggest victory in his 3 week career when he won the stage to Klevaliden, without doubt the toughest climb in Sweden

Stage 5 - June 16: Jönköping-Göteborg, 186 km

• Ivan Quaranta (Index-Alexia) - was the fastest rider in the dramatic sprint finish on Nya Allén, ahead of Steven De Jongh (Rabobank) and Rudi Kemna (Bankgiroloterij-Batavus)
• 1997 U23 World Champion Kurt Asle Arvesen (EDS-Fakta) - was the overall winner in the 2002 Postgirot Open, which saw its third Norwegian overall winner. Arvesen beat René Haselbacher (Gerolsteiner) and Fredrik Modin (Team Mälarenergi)

Men's criterium in Stillwater

• Tight corners - made for some exciting racing
• The Prime Alliance boys blocked - while Horner was away
• The course was fun - except for the hill, and the rain, and the hill, and the rain
• John Lieswyn (7 UP) put the hurt on everyone - including himself
• Considering the weather - the amount of spectators on the hill and around the course were incredible
• Jason McCartney (Jelly Belly) - assesses the damage he's doing to his breakaway companion
• Chris Horner (Prime Alliance) and Jason McCartney (Jelly Belly) - attacked a field of 81 pro men half an hour into the Stillwater Criterium to create a breakaway that held off the field throughout the entire race
