Warragul track carnival/Victorian Madison Championships

Warragul, Victoria, February 16, 2002

The boy who has to be one of the bravest around, Sam Atkinson, 9, with father Rod and sister Zoe - lucky to even be on the sidelines at the Warragul CYcling CLub's Victorian Madison Championship Carnival on Saturday after suffering horrific injuries in a training accident in January. Sam broke his jaw in three places, a perforated oesophagus, lost 11 teeth, tore his liver, bruised his kidneys and damaged his spleen in the crash in January, but is keen to get back on his bike.
