And he rode away!

The staff here at Cyclingnews.com are all pretty keen cyclists, and game for most things, but Stephen Murray's effort at the X-Games will take some beating.

During the second round of the 3 part BMX Dirt Jumps competition, Murray realised he to do something out of the ordinary, if he was to have any hope in the event.

In-front of 20,000 completely insane fans, Murray pulled off a double back flip, and managed to ride his bike away. In Murray's third round he rolled in with a no footed turndown back flip. (In truth, I'm not exactly sure what that is, but you can trust me, you don't want to try it on your Colnago!).

Generally this sort of lunacy would guarantee you an award of some sort, but fellow nutter Ryan Nyquist was doing his best to spoil Murray's party.

Nyquist managed to land a Truckdriver (again, I'm not entirely sure what this is, but any cycling trick named after a truck can't be good) and then attempted a 720 spin on his third jump. After crashing, Nyquist dusted himself off, and completed his round with a very smooth 360 degree backflip. Seems fair.

By this stage the fans were competing with the competitors for the loopiest person in the arena award, but after some deliberation the judges gave to gold to Murray.

Imagine if they hadn't!
