83rd Giro d'Italia, Italy, May 13-June 4, 2000

Italian Cristian Moreni rides ahead of the group during the 2nd stage of the 83rd Giro d'Italia 15 May 2000. Moreni took the overall lead in the Giro d'Italia after racing to a solo victory in the second stage as rain-slicked roads took their toll. Moreni, whose only other professional victory was in last year's Vuelta a Espana, raced all but nine kilometres of the 229-km stage from Terracina with five co-leaders.
