• Four creek crossings per lap kept the riders on their (wet) toes.
• Mikkeli Godfree, Team Kona rider and CN photographer just kept on moooooving all day and night to win the mixed pairs for Team KONA. Not sure if the cowbell is UCI approved?!
• Riders running to their bikes - Solo winner Josh Street (SRAM-iRule, C in yellow), started fast, rode fast, finished fast.
• Awesome race backdrop as the riders take in the pre-race briefing.
• Chris Scully (RapidThrusters 11) succumbs to Sonofabitch Climb as the riders behind struggle to aim uphill.
• Rider crossing the plain at high speed at the start of the lap.
• Soloist Adam Mitchell, brought international flavour to the event. The Englishman rode his 10 laps in style.
• Super solid solo rider, Rob Davis, finished in 10th place with 12 laps to name.
• Travis Wileman (out on day release).
• Rowan Lamont from Male Pairs team "Joyriders". They finished the day in fifth place having ridden 16 laps.

• After the series of climbs in the first 3 km there was this to look forward to
• Coming up to the roundabout at Cavaion, approximately halfway around the course
• No entry? Not if you're a journo!
• This section at 2 km to go had just had a new layer of asphalt, which was sticky in the warm sun
• The Tower Hotel in Bussolengo was the perfect place for most of the foreign riders to stay for the weekend of the championships. It was also very hard to miss.
• Some of the other parts of my bike leave a bit to be desired, but not the Lightweight wheels, which are very nice to ride on
• Andrea Agostini (L) and Francesco Moser (2nd R) chat before departure from the hotel
• The Journo World's were organised in part by Mondiali Ciclismo, which is responsible for the real World Championships in Verona in October
• All aboard the bus even though it was only 10 km out to the parcours
• We're in vine country: A lot of good Italian wine is grown in this area

• No, not a doping razzia... The Italian police did a great job in controlling the race and ensuring safety on the fully closed course

Stage 1 - August 26: Glen Haven and Drake Road Races, 87/56 miles

• The race was filled with constant up and downs with very little flat roads throughout the day.
• The area around Estes Park is dotted with picturesque lakes and rock formations. The women didn't stop to sight-see.
• The rollers on the Peak to Peak are a good way to stay warm during the recent cold spell in Colorado.
• The men and women were greeted with cold weather and rain up on the Peak to Peak Highway.
• The Rio Grande composite team looks relaxed during a calm moment in the race.
• ProPeloton's Michael Larsen shows how hard racing at this elevation can be.
• The men's field appears relaxed early in the race. The field let the winning break of 3 get up to a 20 minute gap, and could only bring it back to under 7 minutes before the finish.
• There's a reason the Peak to Peak Highway is a National Scenic Byway. This is a regular training route for many of Boulder's pro cyclists.

• Both the men and women did laps around Horsetooth Reservoir, West of Fort Collins.
• What looks like the ocean is really just a pond out on the scenic course.
• Every lap featured lots of climbing, which saw the field split into smaller and smaller groups every lap.
• TIAA-CREF/5280 works hard to defend Dan Bowman's best young rider jersey.

Women

• The women fought hard over the same challenging course as the men. Team Rio Grande took the fight to T-Mobile all day.
• Team Rio Grande's Lynn Gaggioli leads Lara Kroepsch (T-Mobile) around the Reservoir.
• The peloton looks apprehensive with Rio Grande, T-Mobile, and Excel Sports making the move.
• All the racers appreciated the nicer weather today, compared to the rain and cold experienced every other day.
• Race leader Katrina Grove (Team Rio Grande) held onto her lead by seven seconds over T-Mobile's Kim Anderson.
• Lots of racers suffered on the constant undulations the course provided.
• The women's field also had a best young rider competition, complete with jersey.
• Lynn Gaggioli (Team Rio Grande) wins the sprint from Lara Kroepsch (T-Mobile) and Katheryn Curi (Team Rio Grande).

Stage 4 - August 29: TIAA-CREF N. Bldr. Park Criterium, 75min/45min

• The Pro women lined up in front of an enthusiastic crowd in downtown Boulder.
• The race went from the gun and never eased up as T-Mobile and Team Rio Grande fought for the stage and overall wins.
• With 10 turns on the mile course, the pack was lined out singlefile for much of the race.
• Kim Andersen (T-Mobile) took the stage win and the overall win by 3 seconds thanks to time bonuses.
• Race sponsor TIAA-CREF was a big hit with fans of all ages.
• Team Rio Grande drove hard for their leader Katrina Grove.

• Irishman Brian Keneally (Team Munster) wins the first stage around Chobham Common, closely followed by Duncan Urqhart (Prestige VC) and Neil Coleman (Alcan Bianchi).

Stage 2 - August 14: Newdigate, 99.8 miles

• Stage 2 winner James Flanagan (Central Division) was part of the successful 19-man breakaway that went away on lap 3. Neil Coleman (Alcan Bianchi) leads the race going into Stage 3.

Stage 3b - August 15: Goodwood & South Downs circuit, 84 miles

• Tim Barry (Team Munster) wins Stage 3b in a 14 man sprint ahead of Ben Greenwood (Recycling.co.uk) and Gary Dodd (Sigma Sport).

Stage 5 - August 17: Crowborough, 73 miles

• Shaun Snodden (Recycling.co.uk) buries himself in the closing miles of the 73 mile stage around Crowborough, eventually finishing third overall, good enough to take an eleventh-hour victory in the race.
