• McCann looked fast from the first second of his ride
• Former double road race champion David McCann chose to wear his Ireland skinsuit, rather than the Team Endurasport issue.

• Tommy Evans (Totalcycling.com) was also expected to shine, after a fine 19.23 ten mile time trial in recent days. He was notably relaxed here...
• ....But soon got his don't-mess-with-me expression on.
• Evans gets his ride underway, but was frustrated by the effects of a lingering knee problem
• Sinead Jennings, 2001 world rowing champion, booked her place for the cycling worlds with this fine ride.
• While Louise Moriarty was fifth
• David McCann was fired up, speeding around the tough course to take the victory and so ensure his ride in Canada
• Paul Healion was fourth, three and a half minutes down. He rode well in the B worlds track championships earlier in the year, but wasn't on top form

California Time Trial Championships

• Allan Armstrong came from nowhere to win the Men's 35 -39 and post the 2nd fastest men's time (0:44:38) of the day.
• Julia Whiteside, new woman's open state champion, came in 3 minutes behind Jeannie Longo.
• Geoffrey Rapoport dominated the men's open category. A good day for the Minute Maid/Dasani team.
• Jeannie Longo beat her closest competitor in the woman's open division by 3 minutes (0:46:04), but since she is not a resident of California she was not given the title of state champion.
• Allan Armstrong crossing the line to win the 35-39 men's category.

EPC Open European Disabled Championships

• Former Kelme professional Xavier Ochoa (Spain) rides to silver in the pursuit. Ochoa won the road time trial and was second in the road race.
• Australians Modra & Harry win the sprint final against Great Britain despite Darryn Harry pulling his foot in the last lap. Unfortunately their luck ran out in the 1 Kilometre where they broke the rear chainstay of their frame.
• The event was run at a high level with support from the Czech Cycling Federation. Here Australian multi-medallist Claire McLean starts the track time trial.
• Riders from Europe to Asia contested these 'European' Championships - the largest such event before Athens 2004. The host Czechs & Chinese above fielded strong teams.
