Evgeni Berzin was one of the Gewiss trio (along with
With Moreno Argentin and Giorgio Furlan) that dominated Fleche Wallonne in
1994. He went on to win Liege-Bastogne-Liege and the Giro d'Italia that year
and wore the yellow jersey in the 1996 Tour de France, before losing it to
Bjarne Riis. He was thrown out of the 2000 Giro before the start with an haematocrit
of over 50 percent.
