2003 Team rostersMoritz Chevrolet CyclingThe Moritz Chevrolet Cycling Team enters its 3rd season of racing with a roster of 15 riders. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, the team has been generously sponsored for 3 years by the Moritz Chevrolet auto dealership. The team has added a major 2nd sponsor in Legg-Mason Financial for 2003. Focusing on road racing in Texas and the Southwest region, Moritz team goals include competing in the TXBRA (Texas Bike Racing Association, www.txbra.org) Cup series and participating in charity fund raising bicycle rallies. Returning to the squadra is 2002 TXBRA and Hell of the North Juniors points series champ, Russell Walther. Through class, character and sportsmanship, on and off the bike, MCC has promoted cycling and charity fundraising on the Texas cycling scene for 3 years. Projects include their popular four month long summer Wednesday night criterium series, home of weekly "Bandito Bucks" prize money. Proceeds from this race series and the annual Cowtown Criterium, an elite TXBRA event, have raised funds for the Tarrant County Resource Connection, and the Citizen's Support Group for the Fort Worth Police Bike Patrol. MCC has also helped raise funds for Cook Children's Medical Center's Life After Cancer Program (www.cookchildrens.org). In conjunction with the Lance Armstong Foundation (www.laf.org), this program helps childhood cancer survivors deal with post-treatment medical and psycho-social issues. The team will help sponsor and headline two fundraising bicycle rides in 2003; The Aledo Ride for Heroes (April 5th) and The Cowtown Classic Bike Ride (September 13th, www.cowtownclassicbikeride.org).
