Velo Club La Grange Westwood has presented its elite men's racing team
for 2003. Sponsored by Minute Maid and Dasani Water, the team's racing
schedule includes the California racing circuit as well as many national
calendar races. Based out of Los Angeles, California, the club has a legacy
that includes Olympic medalists, Tour de France stage winners, World Champions,
National Champions, and State Champions.
Already this season, the team has scored several top 20 finishes in
national calendar races as well as 10 podium and 17 top 10 finishes in
other California and Arizona pro races. The team also had a strong showing
at the Redlands Bicycle Classic, which was the first time the club has
entered a men's squad into one of America's top stage races. The team
is led by Victor Ayala, formerly of Schroeder Iron, and Alex Smith, former
U.S. Collegiate road and mountain bike champion. Matias Mendigochea races
and also serves as manager.
