People Cycle 2004 development team

People Cycle, Inc. returns to racing in 2004 with an elite junior development team. Formally Coast to Coast Development - Stelvio Teamwear presented by People Cycle, Inc., the team is based in Cape Cod, Mass. and will focus on the New England race calendar, as well as an international schedule that will include both the Tour de l'Abitibi (Quebec) and the Junior Tour of Ireland. Selected team members will also represent the team at U.S. Junior World Qualifier Races and the National Championships in August.

Once known as the People's Cycling Team, People Cycle, Inc. has moved beyond its U-23 teams and is poised to become one of New England's premiere cycling advocacy and development organizations. However, much of its 2003/2004 focus has been on community outreach events and Junior Development. To this end, all of its riders dedicate time in their own communities towards these endeavors.

As team director and professional coach Chris Harnish notes, the team came together rather suddenly, "I had been toying with the idea of a junior team for a few years, but this fall George (Sykes) and I decided to put it together on a shoestring with riders more interested in opportunity and team work, and less interested in money. However, after the New Year, we were presented with a set of generous sponsors and an awesome clothing supplier in Stelvio Teamwear. From there it snow balled into our 2004 squad!"

Snowballed it did. With the support of Bob St. Claire and the New Hampshire Cycling Academy, the team signed on their remaining riders to add to their local core, creating a team for all races. Led by Massachussetts' State Champion and Verge NE Cyclocross Series runner-up, Toby Marzot, the team boast's the sprinting strength of Alex Ferrero and nationally ranked BMX rider Jake Keough, the climbing skills of Ben Zawacki and the all around abilities of Alex Buck and Isaac Howe.

The team's title sponsor, Coast to Coast Development, Inc, is one of Cape Cod's premiere home builders. The team also owes special thanks to Stelvio Teamwear for their clothing sponsorship, as well as the significant financial contributions of Jon Santilli's Center for Autos, the Kitchen Appliance Mart, and CL Noonan Container Service, Inc. Rudy project will supply helmets and eyewear to the team.
