Webcor-Platinum women's team

The Webcor Builders Women's team has signed a new co-sponsor in Platinum Advisors for 2006, and will be known as the Webcor-Platinum Women's Cycling Team. California-based consultancy firm Platinum Advisors was a supporting sponsor of the team in 2005.

The Webcor-Platinum team has six riders returning from last year: 2004 National Time Trial Champion and Olympian, Christine Thorburn, 2005 National Road Champion, Katheryn Curi, 2005 Canadian National Road Race silver medalist, Erinne Willock, 2005 Canadian National Time Trial bronze medalist, Felicia Gomez as well as ever improving riders Cat Malone and Betina Hold.

A new addition to the team is 2005 Collegiate National Omnium Champion, Amber Rais. "Amber has a huge amount of potential - she went from Cat 4 to Cat 1 in 2005!" said co-team manager and former World TT Champion, Karen Brems. "She guest rode with the team at Cascade and Bermuda and was a great fit." Also returning in 2006 is team director/co-manager, Carmen D'Aluisio, former US National Criterium Champion.

With support from Webcor Builders, the team had a successful 2005 season. The team completed the year with a total of 27 victories, a National Championship title, and winning the Individual, Team and Young Rider categories in the Women's Prestige Series. In addition, four Webcor Builders riders qualified to compete at the World Championships for their respective countries.

Webcor Builders CEO, Andy Ball, is pleased to continue supporting the women's team in 2006. "The women had a fantastic season and will do even better in 2006!" said Ball. The team recently returned from a training camp in sunny San Louis Obispo, CA hosted by clothing sponsor, Voler Cycling Apparel. The great chemistry that gave the team so many victories last season was again apparent.
