2005 Team rostersCycling Center/Bio-RacerThe Cycling Center has announced its roster for the 2005 season. The team, known officially as Cycling Center/Bio-Racer, is made up primarily of young U.S. riders who have been selected to spend all or part of the season racing in Belgium and other surrounding countries. Directed by Bernard Moerman, the CC is focused on developing elite riders and guiding them to the next level. Many who have competed on the Cycling Center team have gone on to race professionally. More than 250 athletes applied for approximately 40 spots on the 2005 team. The riders will be based at the Cycling Center complex, a remodeled hotel and restaurant just outside of Brugge, Belgium. The Cycling Center/Bio-Racer team will compete in races in six different countries in Europe Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany and Spain and start and finish in the United States. Planned races in the United States include Valley of the Sun, McLane Pacific, Central Valley Classic and Univest GP. The Cycling Center has grown both in size and stature in its 14 years of existence, particularly over the last three years, when it moved to its current larger facility, started earning invitations to more prestigious races and also received more media attention, both in Europe and in the United States. "The Cycling Center is a 'home away from home' for those motivated riders that want to find their limits under the guidance of a professional and well-experienced staff," Moerman said. "With this high-level racing calendar in Europe and the U.S., it is an excellent platform for the talented riders to prove they can go pro and make good money". A core group of six American athletes who excelled during past seasons at the Cycling Center and two Belgian riders will lead the team through the full March-to-September season. The other athletes some of whom are returning and others who are competing with the Cycling Center for the first time will race a partial season in Belgium and the remainder of the season with their teams in the United States. Few spots remain open and will be filled in the next few weeks, Moerman said. Team rosterFull season Mike Bogaert, Brugge, Belgium Partial season Aidan Charles, Middletown, Conn.
