2005 Team rostersArctic Shorter RochfordThe British-based Arctic Shorter Rochford Racing Team has now finalised its team roster for the coming season. Danny Axford (formerly Stilton RT) returns to the team as team leader, eliminating a large gap that was partially filled last year with Simon Gerrans (now with Ag2r) and Jonathan Dayus (formerly with Team Ringerike) spearheading the team in the key events. Danny brings a wealth of experience with him, having been a the top of UK cycling for some time now. He will target key Premier Calendar Series road events and the National Time Trial Championships at 10, 25 and 50 miles, he will also again ride the Hillclimb season, defending his BUSA National title. Jonathan Dayus will again make appearances in Arctic colours in key events, the first of which will be the Archer International Grand Prix. Jon will continue to be based in France, riding for amateur team UC Nantes Atlantique whilst over there, but returning to the UK on three to four occasions where, as in 2004, he will be fully supported by Arctic. James Dobbin (2nd in the 2004 National Hillclimb) returns for another season with the Arctic Team, riding many of the Premier Calendar races, plus a lot of those races local to him in Bath. James is never happier when the road goes uphill, so watch out for James in those more demanding events. Another new signing for 2005, is Tim Wallis. Tim came to the teams attention in last year's Girvan Premier Calendar. Tim is only 20 years old and a bright prospect for the future. targeting the Under 23 series and Premier Calendar series, Tim too is a strong climber, winning the KOM title in the 2004 Five Valleys race a race that this year returns to Premier Calendar status. Tim Bayley stays with the team for 2004. Tim is the longest serving member of the Arctic team, comfortable in Road Races or Time Trials, Tim will again be at the centre of Arctic's plans for 2005. A member of Arctic's winning Hillclimb team during 2003 and 2004, Tim will aiming for 3 in a row. David Law returns to Arctic after three seasons in France where he rode for VC Pontivy and VC Quimper. David is an all-round strongman, and British pelotons better beware of David driving hard on the front, in support of team glory. Andy Proffitt, now having finished his studies, will support the team in as many road races as possible, but Andy's great strength is his time trialling ability and along with Danny and Tim Bayley will target the 10, 25 and 50 mile Championships in 2005. Matt Holmes will continue to ride in the National Circuit Series and London Cross League. With 2 top 10's in last years Circuit series before illness laid him low for long periods, Matt will be keen to showcase his abilities again in this discipline. Peter Bissell the teams young Junior Hillclimb champion, turns senior this year and is off to France, but whilst back in the UK will fly the Arctic colours. Unsure of his French race program, Peter would like to return for the Under 23 Road Series and National 10 and 25. Management of the team will remain in the hands of Team Director - Peter Ruffhead and Team Manager - Rob Finch, but this year will also see Stewart House getting involved, to free up some time for Peter and Rob to get back into competition. Sponsors for 2005 remain unchanged, with main sponsorship coming from Arctic Building Services (East Barnet) and Shorter Rochford Cycles (Potters Bar and Finchley). Product support again will again be supplied by Bohle UK ( Schwalbe Tyres and Taya Chains), Fishers Outdoor Leisure (Maxim energy foods, MET helmets, BLOC eyewear, Tacx equipment) and RSI (Ambrosio and Oktos equipment).
