The 10th annual Bar-H Bash held at The Breaks at Bar-H Mountain Bike Ranch in Saint Jo Texas hosted the second stop in the 2008 Texas Mountain Bike Championship. Defending 2007 Texas Mountain Bike Champion Bryan Fawley (Texas Tough / Hotel San Jose) took first place in the pro/semi-pro division - overcoming horrifically windy conditions. He completed the 25-mile course in 1:45 edging out Raymond Hall (Trek / VW Regional Team) and Christian Helmig (Mad Duck Racing). Fawley had taken fourth in the Premavera in Lago Vista the previous day and made the 150-mile trek up to Saint Jo to compete on Sunday, too.
Kim Jennings (Cannondale), Christina Smith (Lonestarworks/Austin Bikes), and Kim Chance (Matrix/Richardson Bike Mart) won their respective age divisions of the expert women's race.
In the open singlespeed Division Alex Morgan (Hill Sports Shop) of downhill fame won by more than three minutes over David Boyd (Team Bike Lane). Third and fourth places went to Gavin Hayes and Jennifer Gersback, both of Spot Brand /Dales Pale Ale. Gersback, a downhill national champion, short track cross country national champion, and podium finisher at 'cross nationals, was riding a 29er belt drive singlespeed made by Spot Brand. What can't this girl do?
The Yeti Cycles / Mad Duck 2008 Bar-H Bash was presented by the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association and hosted by the The Huston family on their ranch.
