United Kingdom's 4X season kicks off in big style
A massive, record-setting entry of riders and 200 motos attended the opening round of the British 4X series. That was a lot of riders to get through before the quarter finals. The super fast, hard-packed, sandy Chicksands is always a season favorite and the course was ready for action thanks to the Chicksands Bike Park. The track featured an extension with a new 180 degree flat turn which made for some exciting last corner moves with quite a few riders getting a mouth full of sand.
In the men's elite race, Boom Boom Scot Beaumont (Rocky Mountain) took the first round with Martin Ogden (Ram Bikes), Dunacn Ferris (DMR) and Louis Lacey (Charge Bikes) hot on his heels.
Charlie Phillips won the elite women's race ahead of Suzanne Lacey and Rebecca Vaughan (Norwich Flyers BMX Racing Club).
In the junior race, which was without Tom Dowie, who dominated the series last year, but moved up to pro, it was Scott Roberts (Flow bikes) looking good, taking straight wins in all his motos and qualifying with ease. But come the final, Bernard Kerr just got the edge to take the win.
The next round of the British 4X Championship is set for May 17-18 in Bridgnorth Shropshire.
