Hays & Vandlandingham win Firecracker 50

Ten US national mountian bike marathon champions were crowned on Independence day at the USA Cycling Mountain Bike Marathon National Championships in Breckenridge, Colorado, at about 9,000 feet altitude.

Pro riders Jay Henry (Tokyo Joe's), who finished third last year, and Shonny Vanlandingham (Luna) captured the open titles while other stars-and-stripes jerseys went to Brad Cole in the men's 19-29 category, Zachary Vestal (Trek-VW) in the men's 30-34 category, Zach Bingham (Beaver Creek) in the men's 35-39 class, Tinker Juarez in the men's 40-49 category and Russell Asleson (Pro Cycling) in the men's 50+ category.

In the women's categories, Kate Chapman Mafia Racing) won the 19-29 championship, Katie Monahan (Blue Sky Velo) won the 30-39 title and Karen Hogan (Chipotle-Titus) captured the 40+ crown.
