Canada takes world's opener
The Canadian team has won the opening event of the 2004 world mountain bike
championships, the team relay. Canada's extremely strong team of Geoff Kabush,
Kiara Bisaro, Max Plaxton and Ralpael Gagne surprised nobody when they took
a 24 second win over Switzerland, with defending champions Poland third, 57
seconds behind Canada.
Each team consisted of an elite male and female ride, plus a junior and an
under-23 competitor, and each rider tackled one lap of the 6.3km course.
