Race 1 - June 17: Slalom

After a three month hiatus, the Shimano NORBA National Mountain Bike Series returned to competition on Friday with men's dual slalom at Deer Valley Resort. Gravity riders made their long-awaited season debut with the dual slalom competition as perennial favorite Jill Kintner and relative newcomer Cody Warren each took home wins.

In the men's race, the ninth seeded Warren topped the 14th seeded John Kirkaldie in the final to give the 19-year-old the biggest win of his career and his first in a NORBA National at the pro level.

In the women's event, top seeded Kintner recovered from a first-run crash in the final to beat Melissa Buhl (Chandler, Ariz.) in an all-American final.

In the consolation rounds, Jared Graves rode to a bronze medal ahead of fellow Australian Chris Kovarik in the men's race and Michelle Dumaresque beat Katrina Miller in the women's bronze medal match-up.
