Stage 3 - October 19: Bijagua - Bijagua, 61km
Montoya races to stage and overall win
|
Stage three started and ended in the town of Bijagua while racing around the Miravalles volcano. Local champion Paolo Montoya knew that whoever won this stage would likely prevail in the final classification.
Montoya took the win with Frenchman Thomas Dietsch finishing second, just ahead of Swiss Joris Boillat
Costa Rican champion Montoya also took the overall win with a time of 10:29.
Ana Lucia Arias won her third of three stages and wrapped up the overall win, too.
Only 5% of the riders abandoned the inaugural event.
