Boillat & Arias win opener

For the first stage, the scheduled departure from the Volcano Lodge hotel, located opposite the Arenal volcano, had to be moved to Tronador because climatic conditions did not guarantee safe crossing of the Negro River Canyon.The day still finished at the El establo Monteverde. Swiss Joris Boillat put his excellent climbing skills to work to win the mountainous stage. Ana Lucia Arias won the women's category.
