When the weather gets inclement, Levin's Jason Clement gets going. It was a battle amongst the best bike handlers in NZ MTBing when Clement, Lancaster and Hiscock went head to head on the slippery Makara Peak course.

A wrong turn took Hiscock out of the running leaving it open for the other master of the wet, Kurt Lancaster to finish behind Clement. Lower Hutt rider Suzanne Main had a close race to finish 5 seconds ahead of Wellington's Kate Wilson.
