MTB index page for all MTB content Olympia Series #1 - E1Thessaloniki, Greece, May 25, 2003Tudor Oprea dominates once moreBy Dimitris Konstantopoulos Romanian's MTB star Tudor Ovidiu Oprea, added one more victory to his palmares, the third consecutive victory on Greek soil. After his double E1 victory in the Kissavos Cup (May 11-12) Oprea won the Olympia Series #1, which was helded in Seichsou Forest, at Thessaloniki. He took the lead of the race from the start. The two Hungarians Burucki and Parti followed, but a final attack two laps from the end made it a clear victory. The 6.5km course was very hard and technical, and the hard rain of the previous days made the efforts of the riders more difficult. Despite of that, only two (including Greek Cup leader Symelidis) of the 64 starters were abandoded due to mud problems. Next Sunday, June 1, will see the Olympia Series #2 take place in Ancient Olympia, the place that the Olympic Games were born, on a friendly course full of trees and silky roads.
