Stage 6, Port Stephens-Bateau Bay, 155 kms:Tuesday, October 26, 1999 |
TThe longest stage of this year's tour will test the already tired legs of the field, with some more king of the mountains points on offer for the climb over Freemans Waterhole.
This has been a telling stage for the race in previous years. The early cross winds leading into Raymond Terrace for the first 40 km have been a telling influence on the race stage before the undulations and fast finish along Wyong Road. The Bosch team, although failing to claim victory, were responsible for bringing the race back together, with Dutchman Koerts maintaining his wonderful form with another stage win over Graeme Brown and Robbie Hunter.
