Stage 12, Nowra Criterium, 30 kms:Friday, October 29, 1999 |
Last year Nick Gates, the 1996 Commonwealth Bank Cycle Classic winner, used his skill and guise to claim the stage win with a solo breakaway in the Nowra criterium. The circuit is a testing and technical and is located through the heart of the CBD. The average speed of the race is generally faster than 45 kph and the cyclists are encouraged all the way by a large local crowd. The corners and several slight rises make a very tough day, especially after encountering the tough road stage earlier in the day.
