Seniors

On the largely fast riding course Sam Gardner (Evans RT) pulled well away on the first of what was to be 12 laps for the first three placed riders.

Hotly pursued by a diminishing second group, Sam eventually won in a time of 1.04.34 followed by Steven Price (De Laune CC) in 1.08.18 and Jon Sharpe (Evans RT) in 1.09.31 as the only remaining members of the original chasers.

These 2 were followed by Mick Bell (London Firebrigade) and first Vet at a lap behind (1.05.44). The next 6 riders making up the remainder of the first 10 were: Ben Lockwood (GS Invicta) - 1.07.18, David Law (Arctic RT) - 1.08.18, Brian Curtis (Coridori) - 1.09.17, Andy Seltzer (East Grinstead) - 1.10.11, 2nd Vet Carl McDonagh (Brixton Cycles) - 1.10.51 and Neil Simpson (London Pheonix) - all at 1 lap. Geoff Bores (Lea Valley) was 3rd vet and Rik Taub (In Gear RT) first in the 50+ category.

Steven Griffith (Lea Valley) was 1st Junior and 17th overall with Matt Simster (private) 2nd Junior. Jon Sharpe also secured the Sussex League trophy for the 4th year in a row and was presented with the League Cup after the race.

Women

The Women's race produced a keen and close battle between Abigail Armstrong (London Phoenix) and her team mate K Campbell. Armstrong was clear on the first lap to be eventually pulled back by Campbell on lap 4 when she took over the lead and stayed there until mechanical failure allowed Armstrong the chance to regain the lead, an opportunity she did not waste as she continued in that position to become the Women's winner. Campbell managed to recover to gain 2nd place.

Under 10s

A hotly fought race saw eventual race winner Brock Duncumb Rogers (Preston Park YCC) steadily chased down by Sam Bores (Lea Valley YCC) who took the lead on the penultimate lap when Brock came to a halt on the grassy ramp.

On the final lap Brock regained the lead as Sam made the same mistake unluckily sliding all the way to the bottom of the slope as Brock came past him to surge away to his second victory in the Sussex League events.

Youth

Winner David Wood (VC Deal) was never challenged in this race which saw him fly round the full course in 4 laps all completed in an impressive time of under 6 minutes each.
