Race 1 - Juniors, 40 minutes

Eising with ease on home soil

By Brecht Decaluwé in Pijnacker, The Netherlands

There's no match for Dutchman Tijmen Eising in the junior category. On a true cross course where mud and wind tortured the young riders, Eising was a level stronger than the opposition. The strong Dutchman waited one lap before creating a gap over a group with compatriot Lars Van Der Haar and Belgians Wietse Bosmans and Sean De Bie.

From then on Eising kept riding away from the chasers until he had a gap of about half a minute. Behind him the Belgians tried to get rid of Van Der Haar but the Dutchman wasn't planning to let go of a podium spot.

Meanwhile Eising kept pedaling on cruise control through the mud around the Dobbe Lake in Pijnacker. The Dutchman remains unbeatable this season and thus he grabbed his second win in a row in the UCI World Cup presented by Safety Jogger. "This is a nice victory but I have to admit that I didn't have to dig very deep to get it. I didn't train too much this week as I can't peek all season long but nevertheless it went very smooth today," Eising said to Cyclingnews.

The battle for the remaining podium spots was intense. Eventually, De Bie showed up at the finish line alone, with Bosmans grabbing the last podium spot a few seconds later.

Dutchman Lars Van Der Haar crossed the line in fourth position with a damaged shifter showing the signs of a crash. Van Der Haar couldn't hide his disappointment and he complained that Bosmans had forced him into the barriers.

American Luke Keogh finished on a good fifth place. Keogh was always riding on his own and although the gap on the chasing group wasn't too big he never managed to bridge up with them.
