Christian Poulsen won the Danish Cyclo-cross Championship in a muddy, technical race organized by his own club, Kolding BC. Poulsen took the lead early in the race and held off his rivals by 31 seconds to claim the title. After the race Poulsen said it was fantastic to win in front of his local supporters in his hometown. Poulsen, who was once part of the Heitdens Ten Tusscher MTB Team, has no plans to race cyclo-cross more extensively on the international circuit.

Joachim Parbo (CCV Cicli Protek), the 2006 and 2007 champion, had been ill three days before his title defense on Sunday, and arrived weakened at the start with a sore throat. Parbo and Tommy Nielsen (CK Kronborg) rode together for some time until Nielsen crashed on a technical descent. Parbo rode better in the last half of the race, but was not able to catch Poulsen and settled for second place while Nielsen recovered to claim third. Given the circumstances Parbo was happy with the result.

Anders Klinkby (Vejen BC) punctured on the third lap and was left without a chance to get back in the race. He felt he could have been in the mix for the win, had it not been for the puncture.

Some 500 spectators were on hand to watch the race.
