Smith sweeps Riverside Cyclo-cross Festival

KCCX/Verge's Shadd Smith put on a cyclo-cross clinic today as he swept the men's elite race at the Paceline Products sponsored Riverside Cyclo-cross Festival. Jesse Petersen and Mark Studnicki battled all race for second and third places. It came down to the final sand section with Petersen putting in an attack and riding the sand which allowed him to get enough of a gap to take second. It was another fine ride by Studnicki for third. Adam Mills had a good day and worked his way up to fourth place. Monkey Wrench's Nate Woodman put in an awesome day taking fifth place on a singlespeed. Woodman also took second place in the singlespeed class earlier in the day behind Cameron Chambers.

Badger Cycles' Sydney Brown dominated the women's elite class as she lead from the start. Yesterday's winner Michelle Jensen and Jennifer Herrell kept her honest for the first part of the 40 minute contest, but as the laps progressed so did Brown's lead. Jensen and Herrell again put in fine rides for second and third places. Allison Baker continues to impress as she nailed down fourth place for the final money paying position.
