USGP Portland Cup - C1/C2Portland, Oregon, December 1-2, 2007Main Page Results Overall standings Previous Race Next Race Race 6 - December 2: Elite Women, 40 minutesGould doubles up in Portland with USGP titleGeorgia Gould doubled up in the Portland, Oregon, while taking the USGP title. After yesterday's convincing victory, the Luna rider entered the final race with the USGP series title locked up. Team-mate Katerina Nash finished second at over a half-minute back and Alison Sydor (Rocky Mountain Haywood) finished third at 1'14" back. How it unfoldedIn typical fashion, it was Katie Compton (Spike Shooter) dominating the start of the race. She was able to get a gap on the field and take a sizable lead. Gould kept working and slowly brought Compton back. When Gould finally caught her, the Luna rider hit the gas and Compton could not respond. Katerina Nash (Luna) also continued her aggressive riding. The rider, who started once again in the third row, was able to power her way to catch Compton and finished in second. Compton, who did not seems to be at the top of her game and faced nasty weather, abandoned the race, however she was not the only woman forced out by the weather. Defending USGP champion Lyne Bessette took a bad spill into a huge puddle and could not continue racing. Sydor (Rocky Mountain Haywood) continued her impressive rookie 'cross season with third place on the day and a second place overall finish for the series. The USGP Overall Series Title is the first for Gould. PhotographyFor a thumbnail gallery of these images, click here Images by Mitch Clinton/www.clintonphoto.com
