Roger Harrison organized the event to help the Veterans raise money for their Children's Christmas Foundation. The elite men got off to a fast start with the trio of Bradley Sullivan (Trek Bike Store of KC), Mark Studnicki (Cow Town Cycling Team), and Tige Lamb (Cow Town Cycling Team) opening of a early gap on a chasing group that contained Lincoln Plating's Marc Walters, Free State Racing's Eric Struckhoff and Team X members Chris Hall, Adam Lang, Tony Stanislav, and Andy Chocha. The first several laps were very exciting as Sullivan, Studnicki, and Lamb all took turns at the lead because it was advantages for them to work together due to the high winds. Their pace remained high as Hall, Lang, and Walters chased hard to try to close the gap. On lap four of the 60-minute event, Tige was leading and looked to be very strong, but "those several beers I had last night" soon took their toll as Sullivan picked up the pace, and only Studnicki was able to respond. The duo of Studnicki and Sullivan changed positions during the remainder of the event until Sullivan opened a small gap on the final lap and cruised to his first cyclocross win of his young career. Studnicki rolled in second shortly after Sullivan took his win. Lamb's gap on Hall remained as he took third. Hall earned fourth the hard way as found the wind and the course alone. Marc Walters took the final podium in fifth. The women's elite field was lead by Team Kenda Tire's Catherine Walberg when she opened up an early lead and held off a hard charging Sydney Brown (Lincoln Plating). Free State's Michelle Jensen rode a strong race for third place. Jennifer Herrell (KCOI) and Glenda Taylor (Wheatland Cycling Team) rounded out the final podium places.
