Michael Heintzman lapped the field on his way to winning the first race of the Blizzard Bicycle Club's cyclo-cross season on Sunday at the Beatton flats, completing 20 laps in the 45-minute time limit. Gary Hilderman was second with 18 laps, followed by Sam Keats, also with 18, in third.

Dean Lowry, Eric Lowry, Gord Harris and Darren Guliov were the next finishers with 17 laps. Adam Currie completed 16 laps followed by Barb Polehoykie with 16 and Lisa Verbisky with 15. 'Cyclo cross' is a cycling event combining off-road cycling along with a bit of running.
