Cyclo-Cross World Cup #3 - CDMWetzikon, Switzerland, December 7, 2003Nijs racks up third world cup winSven Nijs was the hot favourite to take his third world cup cyclo-cross victory of the season and the Belgian 'cross demi-god did not disappoint at the Swiss round of the series. French rider Labbe got the holeshot, but was soon reeled in by the combination of Nijs and compatriot Bart Wellens. Once the danger from Labbe had been neutralised, Wellens and Nijs set about consolidating their lead. With nobody able to get even close to the two leaders, the finale came down to a sprint, with Nijs just edging out Wellens by half a bike length. "Of course I am very happy with this victory," said Nijs. "I am well on the way to overall victory in the world Cup, but it's not over yet."
