Museeuw aims for the Tour

The 31 year-old world champion Johan Museeuw has announced that he will start in the Tour de France this year."I can help our sprinter Tom Steels and it will also be fantastic to win stage while wearing the rainbow jersey as world champion.", Museeuw announced during book presentation near his place of residence in Gistel (Belgium).

For the first time in 4 years, Johan Museeuw didn.t win any of the spring classics this year. in the preseason. Author Nokl Truyers has written his second book about the top Flemish bike rider called, .Johan Museeuw, van Zevekote tot Lugano.. (from Zevekote to Lugano)

The World Champion has little to work out. "I have had no luck."

The rainbow jersey has had no luck in the classics to date. In Milan-San Remo, he fell with Jalabert, in the Ronde van Vlaanderen he was the victim of the absurd inattention of Boscardin and in Paris-Roubaix he had flat tyre at crucial moment. "I have had enough punctures for the whole season. Is that not incredible."

Museeuw admits that in the Amstel Gold Race he was not strong enough to be factor. But in the other World Cup races there has been lot of bad luck

Mapei Team Boss, Patrick Lefevere is happy with Museeuw starting in the Tour. "In the Tour, we will in principle have team which is built around sprinter Tom Steels. Johan is past his prime. But also Tonkov is working for the Giro and it will be too late to start him in the Tour.
