Sorenson breaks finger

Rolf Sorensen has broken his finger. On Friday the Italian Mori had an accident in the last round of the stage in the Ronde van Nederland. He hit the fencing (broke his lower arm) but catapulted away and hit Rolf Sorensen and the Belgian rider Bart Leysen. Sorensen went to hospital. An examination revealed that he had broken his forefinger on his left hand in several places.

The leader of the World Cup doesn't yet know how long this injury will take to heal. The next race for the World Cup is Paris-Tours on October 5.

Australia loses another Crack Rider to Europe

Talented Road Sprinter Jay Sweet is reported to leaving for Italy after the Tour de l'Avenir to sign up with recently formed team (1996) Scrigno-Gaerne. After weighing up the several offers decided this one will suit his ambitions the best. Money strapped ZVVZ-Giant-AIS will likely lose Sweet to Scrigno-Gaerne after the end of September. Australian Sports Institute pulled the pin from AIS road this month when they ran over budget once again. Obviously the only way to solve the problem is to increase the road funding or pull some from the track program in their "OFF" year.
