Fifty eight riders, the largest number ever for a Club race, assembled last weekend at Huntley for the 27.5km handicap race.
All seven bunches, from scratch through to limit, had good numbers in them which made for very quick times being recorded by each bunch. Quite a few riders recorded person best times.
Jono Hall rode the fastest time on the day, 37:24, looking back through the records it appears to be a course record.
The limit, second and third limit bunches all rode extremely well. Teegan Makowski and Derek Rosen, from limit, left their fellow riders at the Huntley turn and didn't look like they could be caught, infact they only finished 6 seconds infront of the chasers.
With less than 7km to go the scratch bunch was 2:24 behind the leaders. Brendan Cato, Danny Hennessy, Adam Rourke, Hall and Tim Morris had all ridden strongly to gain so much time on the other bunches. Hall say that the time was right and set off by himself to catch the leaders, only Cato was able to respond but even he could not hold Hall for long.
Hall went through all the bunches infront picking up mark Davies and Adam Hotchkis along the way.
Rosen just pipped Makowski for the win with Hall leading the main group over 6 seconds later. The next riders over the line were Peter Kelly, Carlo Paiola, Peter Evans and Adrian Cooper. Second fastest time, 37:44, went to Cato.
